Prevent Nuclear Catastrophe Effects Foundation

About thirty years passed after the greatest disaster for the history of nuclear power engineering took place that is ecological disaster caused by explosion of one of power units at Chornobyl nuclear power plant. Millions of people experienced the consequences of this nuclear incident.

According to Ukrainian Law «About Status and Social Protection for Persons Suffered from Chornobyl Disaster» dated February, 28 1991 № 796 – XXII, State took responsibility for inflicted citizens and is obliged to compensate in total by solving problems of health care, social policy and using polluted areas directions of with the help and on the basis of target programs and taking into account other directions of economic and social policy, achievements in the sphere of science and environmental protection.

However it is supposed that State authorities are not able to provide in total the stipulated by Chornobyl Law rights and guarantees for citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster.

The situation day by day becomes complicated. Unsatisfactory medical service, low standards of life, unfavorable ecological situation and consequently arising of social tension among citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster, gaining the number of courts decisions in favor of Chornobylets on their claims to State, accumulation of State debts on social Chornobyl payments.

Foundation while performing charity activity in the interests of society in particular citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster sets such a number of tasks the most important of which are the following:

  • on charity basis promote improving the level of social protection for citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster;
  • on charity basis providing Chornobylets with free medicaments, production of medical purpose, consumable materials, technical means for rehabilitation etc., also performing required surgery, examination, diagnostics, tests and other medical actions;
  • on charity basis providing help for medical Institutions which treat Chornobylets with medicaments, medical equipment, devices and toolkits;
  • on charity basis promoting development of modern technologies and methods of treating and also target programs directed to improve health care;
  • on charity basis creating target support funds for various alternative programs;
  • participation in working out and implementation of international programs with the help of international contacts;
  • join forces of our Foundation, medical centers and medical institutions, other establishments, organizations, mass media for implementation of measures to improve the level of social welfare of Chornobylets.

Within charity programs and with the help and support of international partners, our Foundation has possibility to promote the solving both legal and financial problems concerning stipulated by constitution rights and guarantees of citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster which are important both for the State and Chornobylets.

Such essential problems are the basis of Charity Programs of Foundation: save, keep and care for health of citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster, ecological recreation of areas polluted by Chornobyl disaster.

In these Charity Programs the special attention is paid to providing people with ecological clear food and water, developing the projects connected with implementation of Program of Foundation «Green Energy» on the radioactive polluted areas.

International partners support the intentions of our Foundation on mentioned problems and are ready to take part in developing these projects by involving finances, transferring experience, technologies and providing with modern proper equipment on charity basis.

Due to cooperation with international charity organizations, participation in working up and implementation of international programs in the sphere of medicine, our Foundation have opportunity to promote the solving of problems such as providing the medical institutions on charity basis with proper equipment, apparatuses and toolkits, medicaments, needed technical means for rehabilitation etc. and on charity basis the material support on surgery, diagnostics, tests and other medical procedures needed for treating, rehabilitating and recreating of citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster.

Besides, it should be mentioned and taking into account that our State can’t satisfy the needs of Chornobylets – invalids in cars, our Foundation together with international partners is developing the target programs to provide these citizens on charity basis with cars and also program to improve medical service and quick medical aid by providing the medical institutions with vehicle on charity basis.

The aim is to provide on charity basis and in interests of citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster, invalids among suffered from Chornobyl disaster, invalids among participants of nuclear testing, persons who experienced radiation while working or serving, participants of liquidation the consequences of Chornobyl NPP and citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster, participants of nuclear testing, members of families of those who took part in liquidation and suffered from Chornobyl and persons equated to them:

  • working out and implementation of charity programs with participation of Ukrainian and international partners;
  • working out and implementation of international grants programs for participation of public and charity organizations, donors from various countries who desire to take part in international charity programs of Prevent Nuclear Catastrophe Effects Foundation;
  • working out and implementation of Ukrainian grants program for participation Ukrainian public and charity organizations which are working in favor of Ukrainian citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster;
  • working out and implementation of Ukrainian grants programs for participation of persons, recipients of charity aid, citizens of Ukraine suffered from Chornobyl disaster, members of All–Ukrainian Association of Veterans & Disabled of Chernobyl;
  • cooperation with international partners (charity funds, public organizations etc.), State authorities of Ukraine etc.;
  • providing with computers etc. separated subdivisions of All–Ukrainian Association of Veterans & Disabled of Chernobyl, which will be created on agreement of Board of Prevent Nuclear Catastrophe Effects Foundation on terms of Charity Program «Social and Educational Public Reception»;
  • providing the State medical institutions of Ukraine with medical equipment, consumable medical materials, reagents needed for laboratory researches etc., finding costs to pay surgery and many others to save and prolong the lives of patients among Chornobylets-invalids and other categories of citizens suffered from Chornobyl disaster.

Regional development

As of 01.01.2016 there are 1 961 904 persons in Ukraine, suffered from Chornobyl disaster, who have right for privileges and compensations stipulated by Law of Ukraine «About the Status and Social Protection of Citizens Suffered from Chornobyl Disaster» dated February, 28 1991, № 796–XII.
